SSDO Report Finds 85 Women Face Daily Violence in Punjab as Data Gaps Obscure Scope

Overview

• SSDO’s ‘Violence Against Women Punjab 2025’ factsheet reports more than 15,000 cases from January through June 2025 based on data obtained via RTI.
• The period averaged nine sexual assaults, 51 kidnappings and 24 domestic violence incidents each day across the province.
• Lahore recorded the highest counts, including 340 sexual assaults, 3,018 kidnappings and 2,115 domestic violence complaints.
• Multiple districts failed to provide required data despite Punjab Information Commission directives, including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Rahim Yar Khan.
• Only five districts reported cyber harassment cases, reflecting unequal access to digital complaint channels, and SSDO called for stronger reporting pathways, better investigations, faster courts and expanded survivor services.
