SSC CGL Tier-I Opens With Local Cancellations, Reschedules and New NCR Centres Pledged

The commission has invoked the new exam law after faults at a few venues.

Overview

  • The nationwide computer-based test is running from September 12 to 26 for 28.14 lakh candidates across 260 centres in 129 cities.
  • Opening-day sessions were cancelled at Delhi’s Bharti Vidya Niketan and Gurugram’s MM Public School, and one Jammu shift, with new dates on September 24–26 and September 26 for affected candidates.
  • Police intervened at the Gurugram venue after frustrated candidates damaged a school gate when they found the exam cancelled.
  • SSC Chairperson S. Gopalakrishnan said most of the roughly 227 active centres operated normally, acknowledged issues at about a dozen sites, and promised new DelhiNCR allocations within 10 days.
  • The commission deployed Aadhaar-based biometrics, AI CCTV and remote node controls, adopted an equipercentile normalisation method, launched a feedback portal, and piloted laptop testing in Kolkata; Saturday brought no major disruptions reported.
