SSC Adopts Two-Form Disability Certificates, Restores Own-Scribe Option Under Stricter Rules

The update follows DEPwD’s 2024 guidance to standardize documentation for smoother ongoing recruitment.

Overview

  • Disability certificates are now limited to Form V for single disability and Form VI for multiple disabilities, replacing the earlier three-form system.
  • For examinations notified after October 16, 2024 with recruitment still in progress, SSC will accept either the new formats or legacy certificates.
  • The own-scribe facility has been reinstated for PwBD candidates for examinations notified on or before December 31 under newly defined compliance norms.
  • Scribe eligibility links age to exam level—generally up to 20 years for matriculation/Class 12 and 22 for graduate-level—and requires Aadhaar authentication at the center.
  • If Aadhaar verification of an own scribe fails on site, candidates must use a Commission-provided scribe or appear without one; SSC has also opened self-slot selection for JE and SI Paper-I, with the SI window open until November 21 and exams scheduled for December 3–6 (JE) and December 9–12 (SI).
