Overview

  • Monsoon downpours since August 15 swelled inflows into Sriramsagar, prompting the reservoir to begin controlled spillway releases on August 18.
  • Gate lifts started at 10:40 a.m. with nine gates and were progressively increased to 39 gates by 4 p.m., driving outflows near 200,000 cusecs.
  • As upstream inflows eased, operators closed one gate and reduced discharge to roughly 132,000 cusecs by 8 p.m.
  • Coordinated releases at Singur and Nizamsagar on the Manjeera tributary added approximately 43,000 and 125,000 cusecs respectively to Godavari flows.
  • Downstream structures at Yellampally, Annaram and Medigadda registered discharges above 140,000 cusecs late Monday, highlighting the scale of managed floodwaters.
