Srinagar Police Fine Unregistered Hotels and Homestays in Citywide Compliance Drive
Preventive legal steps will follow the inspections.
Overview
- Police, working with the Tourist Police Station Srinagar, conducted a citywide verification of hotels, guest houses and homestays to enforce statutory requirements.
- Establishments found without valid registration included hotels Essar, ABC Residency, Gani and Aksa, along with homestays Al Habib, Golden Moon and Divine Holiday.
- Fines were imposed for operating without mandatory registration, and authorities said owners of unregistered properties will face preventive action under BNSS Sections 126 and 170.
- Srinagar Police reminded operators of their obligation to complete registration and to submit Form-C to the Foreigners Registration Office within 24 hours of a foreign guest’s arrival.
- The drive follows recent FIRs tied to violated reporting norms, including a December case in which an IMY Homestay owner was booked for concealing the stay of an Israeli national named Starobinsky Lior, with further checks and enforcement to continue.
