Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple Unveils Full Plan for 56-Day Murajapam Starting Nov. 20

A detailed schedule outlines chanting times, processions, cultural events and safety steps ahead of the Lakshadeepam finale.

Overview

  • Temple officials confirmed the once-in-six-years Murajapam will run Nov. 20 to Jan. 14, with seven rounds of Vedic and Sahasranama chanting held daily from 6:30–8:30 am and 9:00–11:00 am.
  • A 48-day Jalajapam will take place at the Padmatheertha Kulam from 6:00–7:00 pm, followed by the nightly Mura Shiveli at 8:30 pm inside the temple precincts.
  • The procession calendar lists Nov. 27 (Anantha Vahana), Dec. 5 (Kamala), Dec. 13 (Indra), Dec. 21 (Pallinilavu), Dec. 29 (Indra), and Jan. 6 (Pallinilavu), culminating Jan. 14 with Makara Shiveli and the Lakshadeepam lighting of 100,000 lamps.
  • Cultural programmes under the ‘Vande Padmanabham’ banner run Nov. 20–Jan. 10, with actor Rana Daggubati inaugurating the events on Nov. 20 and Veda Mandapams set up at all four entrances.
  • Officials have arranged offering counters, including a ₹100 Eka Deeparchana option for participation on Jan. 14, and announced crowd-control and fire-safety measures as larger attendance is expected; Vedic scholars from Sringeri, Udupi, Uthradi madam and Kancheepuram will participate, with Chinna Jeeyar Swamigal joining on Nov. 21.
