Squiban Secures First French Stage Win as Le Court Pienaar Extends Tour Lead

Squiban’s 30 km solo attack on Stage 6 delivered France its first victory in this edition, leaving Le Court Pienaar 26 seconds clear with three decisive stages to come.

  • Maeva Squiban broke away roughly 30 km from the finish and soloed to victory on the 123.7 km Clermont-Ferrand to Ambert route for the first French stage win of this Tour edition.
  • The UAE Team ADQ rider conquered 2475 m of climbing through the Central Massif, including four categorized ascents, to cross the line more than a minute ahead of chasers.
  • Kimberley Le Court Pienaar finished third in the reduced group and stretched her overall lead to 26 seconds over Pauline Ferrand-Prevot in second place.
  • Only six riders now lie within one minute of the leader in the general classification as the peloton prepares for Friday’s undulating 160 km Stage 7 to Chambéry.
