Overview
- Square announced on Thursday that eligible sellers in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, France, Ireland, Japan and Spain can now connect Apple Business to the Square Dashboard to manage their Apple Maps presence.
- Once connected, the dashboard will automatically sync core listing details such as hours, address and phone number across Apple Maps, Siri, Apple Wallet and other Apple apps so merchants no longer need to edit each platform separately.
- Merchants can add action buttons for ordering, pickup, delivery, bookings or appointment scheduling to their Apple Maps place cards directly from Square, a feature Apple data cited by Square says can raise engagement by about 31 percent.
- Square said additional capabilities—place card engagement metrics and peer benchmarking—are in development with no release timeline, and features that rely on Siri will not initially work in the European Union.
- Block framed the integration as part of a wider discovery push that follows recent ChatGPT and Claude links, and markets showed modest moves on the news with Block shares up about 0.31 percent and Apple shares down about 0.49 percent on the same day.
