Square Enix Details Dragon Quest I Additions in HD-2D Remake Ahead of Oct. 30 Launch

Square Enix highlights new content tying Dragon Quest I more closely to the Erdrick Trilogy.

Overview

  • New scenarios center on summoning the goddess Rubiss through the faeries, with the missing Dream-Whisperer creating a new quest hook that links back to Dragon Quest III.
  • Voice roles are confirmed: Kelly Hotten voices Rubiss and Yuriri Naka voices the Dream-Whisperer in English, with Natsuki Kimura and Ayumi Tsunematsu voicing the characters in Japanese.
  • Fresh encounters expand the story with events involving Tantegel’s soldiers, an illness that leads players to a key-studying mage, and a newly discovered dwarven cave.
  • Multiple new dungeons, tougher enemies, and collectible items described as holding the power of nature broaden exploration and crafting-style discovery.
  • Monsters can now appear inside towns, introducing rescue scenarios, and the bundle launches October 30, 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, Switch, and PC.
