SpursMitch Johnson Wins Second West Coach of the Month After 11-0 February

The first-year head coach has quickly validated his promotion following Gregg Popovich’s retirement.

Overview

  • San Antonio’s perfect February extended the team’s winning streak to 11, its longest run since 2015–16 and one of only three undefeated 10-plus game months in franchise history.
  • The Spurs swept the West’s monthly awards, with Victor Wembanyama taking Player and Defensive Player of the Month and Dylan Harper earning Rookie of the Month, a first-ever sweep in the West and just the third such team trifecta since 1982–83.
  • Wembanyama averaged 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists and an NBA-best 3.45 blocks for the month, anchoring a defense that led the West with a 106.2 rating.
  • Harper averaged 12.5 points, 4.9 assists and 3.9 rebounds on 55.4% shooting across 10 games and became the only West rookie to top 100 points at 55% or better without a start in February.
  • It is Johnson’s second monthly coaching honor of 2025–26, making him the season’s first repeat winner, while Cleveland’s Kenny Atkinson claimed the East award.
