Sprout Organics Expands Recall to Four Lots of Baby Food Pouches Over Possible Lead

The FDA warns that even low-level lead exposure can harm children's development.

Overview

  • The recall now includes lot codes 4212, 4213, 4282, and 4310 with best-by dates of Oct. 29, 2025; Oct. 30, 2025; Dec. 4, 2025; and Feb. 4, 2026.
  • Affected 3.5-ounce Sweet Potato, Apple & Spinach pouches were sold online at Walgreens and through independent retailers in 28 states, according to the FDA notice posted Sept. 23.
  • Parents are advised not to feed these pouches to children and to return them for a full refund; questions can be directed to 510-833-6089 or [email protected].
  • No illnesses have been reported to date, and no other Sprout Organics products are included in the recall.
  • Routine sampling detected potentially elevated lead; lot codes are printed on the lower back of each pouch for identification.
