Overview

  • Masked offenders smashed the front doors of the Turramurra centre before dousing the foyer with accelerant and setting a small fire on July 10.
  • The sprinkler system at the Castle Hill facility activated around 1:30 am on July 13 and firefighters ventilated the building before handing the scene to police.
  • NSW Police have established crime scenes at both Play to Learn sites and are analysing CCTV and forensic evidence to determine if the incidents share a perpetrator.
  • No staff or children were injured in either blaze and damage to both centres has been classified as minor, though both remain closed pending safety inspections.
  • Investigators are also probing a string of rubbish pile fires in Toongabbie and Crime Stoppers has urged residents to report any information.
