  • It will be the first international rugby match at Wembley since a 31-31 South Africa–Barbarians draw in 2016.
  • Rassie Erasmus welcomed starting the Northern Hemisphere tour at the London venue ahead of a Test against France in Paris a week later.
  • Japan coach Eddie Jones highlighted the 2015 ‘Miracle of Brighton’ as a turning point for the sport in his country.
