Overview
- Access has begun in the US, UK, Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden, with more than 50 markets covered by October and in‑app notifications when it’s available.
- Tracks stream in up to 24‑bit/44.1 kHz FLAC across nearly the entire catalog, a step up from Spotify’s previous 320 kbps AAC ceiling.
- Lossless works on mobile, desktop and tablets and on many Spotify Connect devices from brands like Sony, Bose, Samsung, Sennheiser, Denon, Marantz, Bluesound and Yamaha, with Sonos and Amazon device support coming next month.
- Users must enable the setting on each device via Settings & Privacy > Media Quality, and a Lossless badge appears in Now Playing and the Connect Picker when active.
- Spotify advises using Wi‑Fi with wired headphones or non‑Bluetooth speakers because Bluetooth compresses audio, and the higher quality consumes substantially more data.
