Overview
- Listening Activity lets users share their current or most recent track inside Messages and allows friends to tap to play, save, open the menu, or react with emoji.
- Request to Jam enables Premium users to send a Jam invite from a chat, after which the recipient hosts and both can queue songs and listen in sync with suggestions based on shared tastes.
- The features are rolling out now on iOS and Android in markets where Messages is available, with broad availability expected in those regions by early February.
- Listening Activity is available to all users with Messages access, while only Premium subscribers can initiate Jam requests and Free users can join when invited; both features are limited to users aged 16 and older.
- Spotify Messages currently supports one-on-one chats with people you’ve previously shared content with, and messages are encrypted at rest and in transit but not end-to-end according to reporting.
