Spotify Announces Price Hikes for Canadian Subscribers

The music streaming giant cites innovation and economic factors as reasons for the increase, while challenging new Canadian streaming regulations.

Individual Spotify accounts in Canada will see a price increase of $1.70, raising the monthly cost to $12.69 before taxes.
Family accounts, which support up to six users, will experience a $4 rise, bringing the total to $20.99 per month.
Student subscription plans will increase by 40 cents to $6.39, and duo packages will go up by $2.90 to $17.89 monthly.
Spotify last raised its prices in Canada over a year ago, with similar increases in the U.S. this past summer.
The company is legally challenging new Canadian regulations that require foreign streaming services to contribute financially to Canadian content, warning it could lead to further price hikes.
