Overview
- Listening activity shows what contacts are playing in real time within Messages, is opt-in, and is visible only to people you have already connected with.
- From a chat, Premium users can send a Request to Jam for a live remote session; recipients can accept or decline, the recipient becomes host, and Free users can join when invited.
- Users can tap a contact’s activity to play the track, add it to their library, open the context menu, or react with one of six emojis, with invites expiring if not accepted within minutes.
- The features are rolling out now on iOS and Android in markets where Messages is available, with broad availability expected by early February, and are limited to users aged 16 and older.
- Spotify reports almost 40 million users have sent nearly 340 million Messages to date, Jam daily active users have more than doubled year over year, and group messaging is slated to arrive soon in select markets.
