Spirit to End Minneapolis–St. Paul Flights on Dec. 1 in Ongoing Restructuring

The Chapter 11 restructuring refocuses flying on stronger markets.

  • Spirit confirmed it will exit Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport on Dec. 1 and will contact affected customers to issue refunds, saying it does not expect further airport exits in the near term.
  • Flights to Bradley International Airport in Hartford end on Oct. 31 as the carrier pares its network.
  • Service will halt in 11 U.S. cities on Oct. 2 and a planned launch in Macon, Georgia has been canceled.
  • The November schedule will be reduced by about 25%, with roughly 40 routes suspended according to an internal note.
  • Spirit filed for Chapter 11 on Aug. 29 for the second time in a year and plans to furlough about one‑third of its roughly 5,200 flight attendants starting Nov. 1.
