- Sphere announced Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, that it will add new animatronic winged monkeys, extra pyrotechnics, venue scents tied to scenes, a new ‘Glinda Glitter’ effect, and apple-scented props to its Wizard of Oz presentation.
- The company says the enhancements are scheduled to debut Sept. 25, 2026, and that tickets have been added on sale into early 2027 to accommodate the extended run.
- The venue will sell scented apples for $10 each with a two-per-customer limit and will release themed scents during key scenes to link on-screen moments with in-room effects.
- The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere has been a major commercial success, generating more than $400 million in ticket sales and selling over 3 million tickets since its August 2025 launch.
- Sphere plans to alternate Wizard of Oz showtimes with its next adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, slated for 2027, a programming move aimed at sustaining large-scale event revenue for the venue.
