  • Carbery received 81 first-place votes out of 103 ballots and totaled 464 points in the NHL Broadcasters’ Association voting
  • He led the Capitals to a 51-22-9 record and secured the top seed in the Eastern Conference with 111 points
  • Carbery became the first coach to earn coach-of-the-year honors at the ECHL, AHL and NHL levels
  • Winnipeg’s Scott Arniel and Montreal’s Martin St. Louis rounded out the finalists with 249 and 66 voting points, respectively
  • Washington was eliminated in five games by the Carolina Hurricanes in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs
