SPEEA Councils Urge Boeing Engineers and Technicians to Accept New Contract

The recommendation triggers a fast member vote that will determine whether tens of thousands of workers avert a strike as current agreements near expiry.

Overview

  • The two SPEEA Bargaining Unit Councils voted by the required 60% supermajorities to recommend acceptance of Boeing’s revised offers, a move the union announced on Tuesday.
  • Union officials say the member ballot opens this week but reporting conflicts on deadlines, with one schedule running Sept. 24 to Oct. 1 and another giving members until Oct. 4 to return ballots.
  • Boeing’s latest proposal includes a 10% guaranteed wage increase effective Oct. 16, a 4% guaranteed increase in March 2027 and three years of 6% wage pools with 4% guaranteed raises each year through 2030.
  • Both existing SPEEA–Boeing contracts expire on Oct. 6, so a member rejection could lead to an authorized strike and Boeing has posted contractor roles and contingency plans to limit production and delivery disruptions.
  • The vote follows an Aug. 21 membership rejection of an earlier offer and a strike authorization, and the outcome will affect pay, work‑from‑home and overtime rules for engineers and technicians as Boeing seeks to steady 737 and 787 output.
