Specialist Search Underway at River Trent After Car Reported Entering Water in West Bridgford

Police say they fear occupants may be unaccounted for and are asking residents to submit footage and any concerns about missing people.

  • An underwater specialist search unit and an ambulance car were seen by the river on Sunday near Victoria Embankment, following Saturday's reports of a submerged vehicle.
  • Officers received reports shortly before 5 a.m. on November 15 that a car entered the River Trent near the Wilford Suspension Bridge in West Bridgford.
  • Nottinghamshire Police say the vehicle is suspected to have come from the vicinity of Wilford Grove as they work to establish whether anyone remains unaccounted for.
  • Detective Sergeant Rachel Mayfield said specialist teams have been working over the past day to track the vehicle and determine the status of any occupants.
