Overview

  • Cho Eun-suk’s special counsel team formally filed the detention warrant request with the Seoul Central District Court at 5:20 p.m. on July 6.
  • The application lists charges of alleged abuse of power, falsification of official documents, obstruction of special duties and ordered deletion of secure military phone records.
  • Yoon underwent two interrogation sessions on June 28 and July 5 totaling nearly 30 hours during which he denied wrongdoing and declined to answer some questions.
  • Treason-related allegations, including an alleged military drone operation over Pyongyang, were excluded from the warrant request as those inquiries remain ongoing.
  • Yoon’s legal team called the move excessive and unfounded and pledged to contest the detention request in court.
