Spate of West Midlands Road Crashes Leaves Multiple People Seriously Injured

Police have appealed for dashcam footage or witness accounts to support investigations into the recent wave of crashes that prompted emergency interventions across the region.

Overview

  • A car and HGV collision on the M6 between junctions 1 and 2 early on August 15 left a man with potentially serious injuries and he was conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire under emergency conditions.
  • On August 14 a motorcyclist believed to have suffered a medical episode on the M54 in Telford was airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital with serious injuries after both carriageways were closed.
  • Warwickshire Police renewed their appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage following a two-vehicle crash on August 13 at Gallows Hill near Warwick Technology Park that seriously injured a biker.
  • Earlier collisions in Kemberton near Shifnal and on the B4090 in Hanbury resulted in a boy and a man being taken to Princess Royal and Alexandra hospitals respectively with potentially serious injuries while other occupants sustained minor harm or were discharged on scene.
  • Recovery teams have cleared wreckage and reopened affected motorways and A-roads after extrication and specialist rescue operations involving paramedic officers, fire crews and air ambulances.
