Sparkasse Begins Phased Crypto Trading Rollout

DekaBank will distribute five major tokens through pooled custody and opaque pricing that gives local Sparkassen a controlled way to offer crypto to customers.

Overview

  • DekaBank launched its "Krypto – powered by Deka" service in the Sparkasse app Monday and the feature is active so far at five of 339 local Sparkassen.
  • The service lets customers open a separate Deka crypto account from the Sparkasse app to buy Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, XRP and Polygon’s POL.
  • Deka holds private keys in pooled wallets and allows withdrawals only to four approved custodians named in its documentation: Crypto Finance Deutschland, Tangany, Börse Stuttgart Digital Custody and Bullish Europe.
  • Trades show a visible €0.99 per‑order fee but include an additional spread that Deka does not publish in advance and that it says can widen for larger orders or during volatility, with prices delivered as temporarily binding quotes.
  • Near‑term access and market impact hinge on local uptake and three possible changes to watch: how many Sparkassen opt in, whether Deka adds more withdrawal destinations or allows self‑custody, and whether it publishes clearer spread information.
