Spanish Regions Kick Off 2025–26 Flu, COVID and RSV Vaccination Drives

Regional programs target vulnerable groups under updated national guidance raising routine COVID shots to those 70 and older.

Overview

  • Galicia began inoculating residents and staff in care homes and disability centers on Sept. 29 through primary-care teams, with SMS scheduling and no mass-vaccination sites.
  • Childhood flu vaccination in Galicia starts Oct. 13 using an intranasal dose for ages two to eleven and a pilot school program reaching about 19,000 pupils.
  • Castilla y León opens its general campaign on Oct. 14, with earlier vaccinations from Oct. 1 for residents, pregnant women and children, an expanded pediatric flu range up to eight years, and RSV protection extended to care homes and high‑risk patients.
  • Andalusia starts Tuesday with shots for children aged 6–59 months, pregnant women and early‑years teachers, then phases in older cohorts through late October, while continuing infant RSV immunization at birth through March 2026.
  • Resource plans include Castilla y León budgeting over €18 million with more than 408,000 COVID doses and 13,000 RSV doses, and regions administering COVID boosters aligned to the 70‑plus recommendation.
