Spanish Police Dismantle First Tren de Aragua Cell in Spain

Investigators describe a drug-financed network spanning five provinces that remains under court-led scrutiny.

Overview

  • Police carried out Operation Interciti on November 7 with five searches and 13 arrests across Barcelona (8), Madrid (2), Girona (1), A Coruña (1) and Valencia (1).
  • Two clandestine labs for producing tusi, known as pink cocaine, were dismantled and officers seized synthetic drugs, cocaine, an indoor marijuana grow, phones, documents and a prohibited firearm.
  • The probe began in March 2024, following an earlier detention in Barcelona of the leader’s brother, and this phase targeted a hierarchical structure that produced and distributed tusi and trafficked cocaine.
  • The case is directed by Audiencia Nacional’s Central Court No. 6, which has ordered pre-trial detention for four of the detainees.
  • Spain’s National Police worked with Colombia’s National Police and the EU-backed AMERIPOL–El Pacto 2.0 project, and investigators continue to pursue additional members and transnational links.
