Overview

• Investigators from the Grupo de Menores in Málaga and the New Technologies Group in Córdoba began tracking a common social media profile and phone number after a mother’s complaint revealed similar threats in Torremolinos.
• The probe identified minor victims in Málaga, Torremolinos, Córdoba and Barcelona who were coerced into sending sexual images under threats of public exposure.
• Officers conducted a home search in late June, seizing a mobile phone, tablet, PC and two additional phones as evidence.
• Authorities have referred the case to the Juvenile Prosecutor, and the suspect is now in custody facing five counts of sexual assault on minors under 16 via technological means.
• The Policía Nacional recommended adjusting privacy settings, verifying contacts and reporting suspicious messages to protect against sextortion.
