Spanish Parliament Requests Special Audit of Vox-Linked Foundation Disenso

The move stems from claims by ex-Vox leaders in the Balearic Islands about diverted parliamentary funds reaching Disenso.

Overview

  • The Joint Congress–Senate commission approved a special review by the Tribunal de Cuentas covering Disenso’s income and expenses from 2020 through 2025.
  • All groups except Vox backed the PSOE initiative, with the PP voting in favor and no abstentions reported.
  • Socialists advanced the request after ex-Vox officials in the Balearic Islands alleged pressure to divert money from a parliamentary group toward party coffers, with some funds reportedly ending up at Disenso.
  • Disenso, chaired by Santiago Abascal, received about €9.5 million from Vox between 2021 and 2024, plus a further €1 million by June 2025, even as the party posted multi-year losses.
  • Vox rejects wrongdoing, cites prior audits finding no irregularities, and has filed a separate proposal to audit all party-linked foundations that the PP has indicated it will support.
