Spanish Infantry Mark Patron's Day Nationwide as Toledo Showcases 175th Anniversary

  • At the Toledo Infantry Academy, Gen. Javier Antonio Miragaya presided over a ceremony with more than 1,000 attendees, 30 decorations, oath renewals, and a foot and motorized parade featuring OT-64 SKOT vehicles and Leopard 2A4 tanks.
  • The Toledo observance doubled as the Academy’s 175th anniversary commemoration, drawing national, regional and local authorities including Milagros Tolón, Paco Núñez and Mayor Carlos Velázquez.
  • In Pontevedra, Brilat held mass and a full military act presided by Gen. Marcial González Prada, with decorations, homage to the fallen and a march-past, on the eve of Andrés González Alvarado’s formal takeover of the brigade set for Tuesday.
  • The Cabo Noval garrison in Siero, Asturias, marked the day with a ceremony led by Gen. Santiago Juan Fernández Ortiz-Repiso involving battalions San Quintín I/3 and Toledo II/3.
  • At Cerro Muriano near Córdoba, the ‘Guzmán el Bueno’ X brigade staged a parade overseen by Col. Manuel Navarro with more than a thousand guests, award presentations and a tribute to the fallen.
