Overview

  • The Confederación Española de Sindicatos Médicos (CESM) and Sindicato Médico Andaluz (SMA) called a 24-hour national strike to demand a separate Estatuto Marco with improved work conditions and clear career pathways.
  • Subrogated staff at Valencia’s Hospital de la Ribera held a two-day walkout that led to about 40 cancelled operations as they press for contract and benefit parity with permanent employees.
  • Anesthesiologists and obstetricians at Seville’s Hospital Virgen del Rocío warned that cuts in summer on-call staffing could leave women without guaranteed epidural services in July.
  • Regional health authorities in Andalusia, Extremadura, Valencia and Galicia enforced minimum service rules to keep emergency, obstetric and critical care running amid walkouts.
  • Protests also spread to Galicia and other regions, where demonstrations spotlighted long waiting lists, budget cuts and diversions to private providers as unions press for more funding.
