• James Nunan, 34, was last seen in Las Palmas on Aug. 18 after visiting Paddy’s Anchor and later buying food at a kebab shop where his backpack was reportedly stolen.
• His passport was reported lost or stolen to the Irish consulate on Aug. 19, according to family accounts and local reporting.
• Spain’s Civil Guard recorded a pan-pan emergency call linked to his yacht Kehaar around Aug. 24–25.
• On Aug. 25, the Spanish coastguard recovered the Kehaar about 50 miles off Gran Canaria with his dog, Thumbelina, aboard; she was identified by microchip and taken to a shelter.
• The case is assigned to Court of Instruction Number Three in Las Palmas, with geolocation approved as Essex Police, Interpol and the U.K. Foreign Office liaise and the family appeals for information, voicing concerns about possible foul play.
