  • Naming preferences vary by region, with Galicia favoring Manuel and María Carmen, Murcia’s 2020–2023 newborns most often named Hugo and María, and Extremadura’s 2023 births led by Manuel and Lucía.
  • Among people born since 2000, Lucía (144,762) and Alejandro (125,104) top the list, signaling a move toward modern names.
  • Names composed of multiple elements have dropped from 48% of women in the 1960s to just 14% of babies born since 2020.
  • García leads as the most frequent surname in both first and second positions, and over 12,000 residents share identical given name and first surname.
