Spain’s New Company Registrations Jump 14.7% in September as Madrid Leads

Regional leaders quickly touted the INE figures to claim economic momentum.

  • INE’s September release records a nationwide 14.7% year-on-year rise in company formation.
  • The Community of Madrid registered 2,159 new firms, up 11.9% year on year, accounting for 23.3% of the national total with €78.7 million in subscribed capital.
  • The fastest growth rates were logged in La Rioja (56.7%), Asturias (48.8%), Castilla y León (32.1%), Comunidad Valenciana (31.4%), Cataluña (28.2%) and Murcia (24.3%).
  • In the Region of Murcia, 261 companies were created for the best September on record, 32 were dissolved, and capital increases reached €31.67 million despite lower capital subscribed by newly formed firms.
  • Castilla-La Mancha saw 256 new companies, a 23.1% annual rise and its second-best September, alongside 53 capital increases totaling €10.83 million and 42 dissolutions.
