Spain’s National Court Opens Preliminary Probe Into Complaint Over La Vuelta Protests Targeting Israel–Premier Tech

Prosecutors will issue a position on jurisdiction to decide possible admission.

Overview

  • Judge Santiago Pedraz initiated preliminary proceedings and referred ACOM’s complaint to the Fiscalía after protests disrupted stages of La Vuelta.
  • ACOM alleges hate crimes, public-order offences, road-safety violations and injuries, directing accusations at protest networks, race officials and political parties.
  • The filing names RESCOP/BDS and the sports boycott platform, and includes race technical director Kiko García among those it holds responsible.
  • In an expanded filing, ACOM asked for the immediate cancellation of La Vuelta 2025 as an urgent precautionary measure or, failing that, extraordinary security steps and restrictions on gatherings along the route.
  • The Guardia Civil detained 12 people over a blockade on the Angliru stage, and the team says it removed the word “Israel” from kit and vehicles to reduce risk.
