Spain Unveils DANA Reconstruction Tracker as Valencia Mayors Push for Speed

Officials say €16.6 billion has been mobilized and urge towns to file project plans by January 26.

Overview

  • Minister Ángel Víctor Torres presented a public web viewer that lets citizens check, municipality by municipality, the actions and investments for DANA recovery.
  • The government reports €16.6 billion mobilized and €6.345 billion paid, including €1.745 billion transferred in January 2025 directly to municipal accounts for local infrastructure and provincial roads.
  • Mayors from affected towns asked for faster delivery and highlighted staffing and capacity shortfalls that are slowing reconstruction work.
  • The ministry is promoting Tragsa to execute projects, citing more than €200 million already in execution and nearly €400 million more expected in the coming days, with Paiporta hosting Tragsa’s area hub.
  • Municipalities must submit project memórias by January 26 and manage roughly €400 million for sewage and potable water works, and Torres named Paiporta (€700m), Catarroja (€598m) and Algemesí (€570m) among the largest recipients.
