Overview
- Spain’s Council of Ministers approved moving eight decommissioned prison plots from Interior’s SIEPSE to Sepes to develop up to 1,332 protected homes valued at about €78 million.
- The sites are in Carabanchel (Madrid), Sevilla (Ranilla), Córdoba (Fátima), Denia, Huesca, Zuera (Zaragoza), Segovia and Briviesca (Burgos).
- Segovia, Huesca and Burgos can proceed to construction almost immediately, while the other five locations await urbanization approvals or demolition work.
- Carabanchel cannot begin building for roughly two to three years due to pending urbanization, and Denia’s schedule points to four to five years before housing can start.
- Plans include up to 508 homes at Carabanchel with coordination on historical memory, plus projected counts of Sevilla 240, Córdoba 174, Denia 145, Huesca 140, Zuera 64, Segovia 53 and Burgos 8, with one Carabanchel parcel shared with Pryconsa.
