Overview

  • On July 4 the Ministerio de Juventud e Infancia allocated Andalucía 677 minors, Madrid 647, Comunidad Valenciana 571, Castilla-La Mancha 320, Galicia 317 and Cantabria 156.
  • Cataluña and País Vasco were exempted from mandatory placements, although Catalonia has volunteered to host 31 minors under the scheme.
  • The central government will finance all relocation costs and cover reception expenses for at least the first three months, with extra compensation for regions facing over-occupancy.
  • Several PP-led autonomies, including Galicia and Cantabria, have filed appeals with the Constitutional Court challenging the decree’s mandatory quotas and capacity calculations.
  • A sectorial conference on July 8 will convene to finalize implementation guidelines before transfers commence in August.
