Spain set for stark weather contrast as southern heatwave peaks and Galicia stays mild

A strong high-pressure system is pushing warm air northwards, producing southern temperatures near 40°C under clear, mild skies in Galicia.

  • Meteorological data indicate that southern provinces such as Sevilla, Córdoba and Jaén are forecast to reach or exceed 40°C by Thursday under a strong high-pressure system.
  • Galician municipalities including Mos, Ponte Caldelas and Vigo will enjoy clear skies with daytime highs of 24°C to 27°C and nighttime lows dropping to 10°C–13°C.
  • In Ponteareas and Soutomaior, afternoon temperatures are set to surpass 30°C while relative humidity falls to as low as 28%–36%.
  • No precipitation is expected across the country through May 28, and wind gusts will range from light breezes to peak speeds of up to 39 km/h in coastal areas.
  • Falling humidity levels and moderate winds will make outdoor activities comfortable in northern regions despite the intense heat in the south.
