• The AESAN alert issued June 10 follows a RASFF notification from Belgian health authorities flagging tropane alkaloid contamination in the product
• Affected lots are 141025C, 151025A, 071225B, 220126A and 130226D of ’Mix It Dunkel Rustico’ with best-by dates from October 2025 to February 2026
• Distribution spanned ten autonomous communities including Aragón, Baleares, Canarias, Comunidad Valenciana, Cataluña, Castilla y León, Extremadura, Madrid, Murcia and Navarra
• Tropane alkaloids can disrupt acetylcholine receptors causing dry mouth, dilated pupils, blurred vision, tachycardia and, at high doses, can be fatal
• Consumers are urged to stop using the affected flour immediately and return unopened packages to retailers for a refund
