Spain Pulls Approval for Four V-16 Beacons as January 1 Mandate Nears

Traffic officials frame the switch as a safety measure, urging buyers to verify certified models on the DGT website.

Overview

  • From January 1, drivers must carry a homologated V-16 beacon, which replaces roadside warning triangles.
  • The DGT has withdrawn homologation for four models: Don Feliz V16IoT, The Boutique For Your Car V16IoT, Ikrea V16IoT, and Call SOS (modelo XL-HZ-001-VC).
  • Current owners may keep using these units until the end of their service life, but manufacturers can no longer distribute them.
  • The DGT says it has no intention of issuing fines immediately, and it has not explained the reasons for the four withdrawals.
  • Consumer group FACUA has complained that Amazon, AliExpress and Leroy Merlin are selling non-homologated devices, and authorities advise checking the certified list before purchasing.
