Spain Pledges €17.3 Million to Restore Torrent Farms, Mayor Calls for Flood-Control Works

The investment will rebuild nurseries, irrigation channels and rural roads damaged by the October 29 DANA; it also underpins planned flood-control measures.

Overview

  • Recovery operations led by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture began in December 2024 and are scheduled to run through June 2025.
  • More than €5.7 million has been allocated to repair the severely damaged Herfesa nursery.
  • Four irrigation communities will receive €767,166.48 for channel cleaning, base reconstruction and capacity upgrades.
  • A total of 15,859 square meters across 12 rural roads is being rebuilt with €716,557.35 to restore farm access.
  • Mayor Amparo Folgado has urged the construction of dams, retention ponds and native vegetation planting to prevent future flood damage.
