Spain Orders Recall of Suerte Ampanera Goat Cheese Lot Over Listeria and E. Coli

Regional authorities are checking shops across seven communities through the SCIRI network to remove the affected lot.

  • Spain’s food-safety agency AESAN issued a national alert after contamination was found in Suerte Ampanera Queso de Cabra Moho Blanco.
  • The recalled product is lot 2509262 with a best-before date of 10/12/2025, sold as a 450 g refrigerated item.
  • Initial distribution included Asturias, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, Galicia, País Vasco and the Community of Madrid, with further redistributions not ruled out.
  • AESAN notified regional authorities via the SCIRI rapid information system to verify withdrawal of the affected cheese from commercial channels.
  • Consumers are advised to check packaging, avoid consumption, and seek medical care if experiencing fever, vomiting or diarrhea, with particular caution for pregnant people, older adults and immunocompromised individuals.
