- The Agriculture Ministry will require all domestic birds to be kept indoors or in protected enclosures in designated zones starting 10 November.
- The directive applies to 11 high‑risk municipalities and 29 under special surveillance across A Coruña, Lugo, Ourense and Pontevedra.
- Measures under Orden APA/2442/2006 prohibit outdoor rearing, restrict fairs and exhibitions, bar certain decoy bird use and mixed species rearing, and limit untreated water sources accessible to wild birds.
- Galicia has reported H5N1 only in wild birds to date, with no confirmed cases in domestic poultry or commercial holdings.
- Spain will also impose tighter rules in 16 municipalities in the Community of Madrid from 10 November, and health authorities assess the risk to the general public as very low with properly cooked poultry and eggs considered safe.
