Overview

  • The European Commission approved an April advance of €100 million from its Solidarity Fund to cover emergency, rehabilitation and reconstruction costs after October’s floods in Valencia.
  • Spain’s January aid application sought €4.403 billion from the EU, allocating roughly €2.011 billion for the central government, €1.357 billion for the Generalitat Valenciana and €1.035 billion for municipalities.
  • Payouts mirror those proportions, granting €30.8 million to the regional administration, €23.5 million to affected local councils and €45.7 million to the state government.
  • Renouncing the advance will not affect any administration’s entitlement to the final Solidarity Fund disbursement once the full damage assessment is complete.
  • The advance follows €1.745 billion in central transfers to municipalities and brings Spain’s total flood relief funding to over €7.4 billion since early 2024.
