Overview

  • Spanish authorities intercepted 675 kg of cocaine concealed in a Valencia–Ibiza ferry truck under Operación Verano and arrested the driver.
  • Mexico’s security cabinet inactivated seven methamphetamine precursor storage sites in Cosalá, Sinaloa, seizing over 3,400 liters and 400 kg of chemicals plus synthesis equipment.
  • The U.S. DEA and Justice Department announced the seizure of $10 million in cryptocurrencies linked to the Sinaloa Cartel in Miami as part of Operation Take Back America.
  • DEA data show that since January agents have confiscated more than 44 million fentanyl pills, over 2,000 kg of fentanyl powder and upwards of 29,000 kg of methamphetamine.
  • Officials cautioned that cartels are now packaging methamphetamine in pill form to lower its stigma and lure young consumers.
