Spain Makes Record Cocaine Bust in Ecuadorian Banana Shipment

Spanish authorities seized 13 tonnes of cocaine hidden in a banana shipment from Ecuador, marking the largest drug haul in the country's history.

Spanish police discovered the cocaine on October 14 in the port of Algeciras, concealed within crates of bananas from Ecuador.
This seizure surpasses the previous Spanish record of 9.5 tonnes of cocaine found in 2023, also in Algeciras.
The operation was carried out with the help of Ecuadorian police, who provided intelligence on the suspicious cargo.
Authorities arrested a woman linked to the importing company, while two other suspects remain at large.
