Spain Hotels Edge Up in August as Prices Climb, With Catalunya Cooling and Argentina Nights Falling

Foreign demand drives the increase, with Madrid up 3.8%, Castilla-La Mancha 8%, Gipuzkoa marking the highest prices.

  • Spain logged 48.1 million hotel nights in August, a 0.9% annual rise led by a 1.7% increase from international visitors as domestic stays slipped 0.5%, with ADR at €155.7 (+6.1%).
  • Madrid recorded more than 2.1 million hotel nights in August, up 3.8% year over year, with a 55.3% occupancy rate and a €121.6 average daily rate, up 12.6%.
  • Castilla-La Mancha posted 413,078 hotel nights in August, an 8% jump, with ADR at €71.97 and hotel prices up 3.49% as sector employment rose 8.2%.
  • Catalunya showed a summer slowdown as hotel nights fell 0.36% from June to August and dipped 1% in August, with shorter stays and softer pricing in Barcelona.
  • Gipuzkoa saw sharp price levels in August at €194 per night province-wide and €238 in Donostia, with foreign guests accounting for 60.2% of hotel entries.
