• On June 9 the Foreign Ministry unveiled plaques commemorating 45 diplomats loyal to the Second Republic and 20 journalists who championed press freedom under Franco.
• Albares recited each diplomat’s name in Madrid and praised their sacrifice for democracy and freedom.
• Historian Ángel Viñas compiled the list of diplomats and announced an expanded edition of his book on Republican diplomats during the Civil War.
• The journalist tribute, organized by the Asociación de Periodistas Europeos and Fundación Diario Madrid, honored figures such as Juan Luis Cebrián, Soledad Gallego-Díaz and Iñaki Gabilondo.
