Overview

  • On June 23 the Salamanca penitentiary surveillance court authorized Cabezuelo’s first four-day leave from Topas prison based on good behavior and having served a quarter of his term.
  • He was sentenced by the Supreme Court to 15 years for the 2016 Sanfermines gang rape, plus three years and three months for privacy offenses and 18 months for a separate assault in Pozoblanco.
  • Cabezuelo declined a one-year reduction under the 2022 “only yes is yes” law that has shortened the sentences of other La Manada members.
  • Prison records show he earned a degree in psychology and participated in reintegration programs since beginning his incarceration.
  • Spanish regulations require judicial approval for prison leaves exceeding two days, prompting the court’s review of his four-day permit.
